Holiday Gifts for Foodies – Day 6, Bento

I just discovered a terrific website for all manner of Japanese food, kitchen equipment, knives, stationary, books and magazines. Bento & Co has terrific bento boxes that serve many purposes. What originally caught my eye was the well-designed Bin 8 , a very clever nesting device shaped like a wine bottle. It includes (from top to bottom):

  • A funnel with attachment for pouring sauces and liquids into containers
  • A lemon juicer
  • A spice grater for making things such as fresh ginger or garlic
  • An egg masher for making egg salad and other dishes in a jiffy
  • A cheese grater
  • A lid grip/opener for those stubborn jar lids
  • An egg yolk separator
  • A measuring cup that measures up to 420ml

The Bin 8 kitchen tool bottle makes a terrific gift for apartment dwellers suffering from limited kitchen space and the $24.90 price is very fair. Be aware of the high shipping fees, however!

Gel Cool Bento Box

The company also offers colorful gel-cool bento boxes. These are an attractive way to carry lunch to work. The color and design elements will stand out from the rest and will help anyone to easily find their lunch in those jam-packed office refrigerators!
